Ride rules

  • All rides are open to the public unless otherwise stated in the ride description.
  • A tail-end rider, preferably with First Aid, is selected on the day to remain behind the group.
  • It is expected that all riders wait at the designated place along the route until all riders have caught up, to ensure all riders are safe, and no rider is left behind.
  • Every rider is expected to help ensure that each ride is conducted in the safest and most enjoyable manner.
  • All people joining our rides do so as private individuals in all respects, and as such accept sole responsibility for any injury howsoever incurred, and Cootamundra BUG cannot be held liable in respect of any injury or damage resulting from the participant engaging in any such ride activity.
  • All RTA road rules and NSW bicycle regulations are to be adhered to at all times. Any penalty incurred due to breaches of these regulations is the responsibility of the individual rider.
  • An approved helmet must be worn on all rides. No helmet – no ride. Damaged helmets are not acceptable.
  • Please ensure your bike is in good working order and bring a spare tube, a pump, tyre levers, a full water bottle, and any other tools you may require.
  • It is also recommended that you bring your mobile phone and some money for food and drinks.
  • Sun protection in the summer months, including sunscreen, is highly recommended. A cycling cap, and factor-50 buff and sleeves can also reduce the risk of sun damage.
  • Children are welcome on most rides but must be accompanied by a cycling adult carer.

The route and coffee shop for each ride (or lunch venue for Social Rides) is pre-determined by the calendar as emailed to all members quarterly. The Ride Leader may choose an appropriate route for the riders assembled and/or weather conditions on the day. If in doubt or you have concerns about the suitability of a particular ride, please discuss with the Ride Leader.
